230°C @ 30W you are only pulling 6A.(Joyetech CL heads) That's under 10A.
Basically I'm just gonna repeat some of the points Llama made.

VTC's amp meter shows current output to the atomizer, which tells us nothing about battery drain. In fact, it gives us nothing useful.
(I suggest Joyetech make it display current being drawn from the battery cell ASAP as it seems to mislead people in a dangerous way.)

Wattage is what you can use to calculate battery drain.
When power setting is 30W, consider this about 90% of what's actually drawn from battery -- devices are not 100% efficient.
When 90% is 30W then 100% is 33.33W. Current drawn from the cell rises as it discharges (voltage decreases), so the cut-off voltage 3.2V is the perfect value to use.

Current = Power / Voltage
Current = 33.33 / 3.2 = 10.41A

Lets say that VTC has in fact an efficiency of 95%. I that case we have 31.6W drawn from the cell and 31.6 / 3.2 = 9.8A.
So 30W of power means that battery current will rise to roughly 10A when it discharges. Oh, and it starts at about 7.5A.

Didn't have time to read a book. Just the last bit.
But you should have had. Please do.

Yes, it has an amp meter. One that gives some people false confidence (but it can be fixed!). Be it the wrong or the correct amp meter -- one should not assume that an amp meter keeps one safe.
