I'm getting frustrated with my eGrip II - it pops and spits after not using it even for a short time. The settings are so complicated that I don't know whether I've got the right settings or not. I've tried it with the Clayton 1.5 and the SS316 0.5. My juice is 50/50 PG/VG.

I've also got an eGo ONE, which I find quite good. It doesn't pop or spit much at all. I prefer MTL vaping rather than cloud-chasing.

How can I set up my eGrip II to give similar performance to the eGo ONE.

What are your settings?
The SS 0.5 is a Direct Lung coil
You will want to run the Clapton for Mouth to Lung which I believe is rated from 8-20W
maybe post a pic of your Egrip2 screen

I tried the Clapton, but there too I got a lot of popping & spitting.
My settings currently are: TEMP SS316, 225 C, 17.4W, 0.56Ω, 00.0A

with your current SS coil two things you can try
1. bump up your wattage try around 25watts
2. try a thicker juice like a 60vg or 70vg juice

Thanks, I tried that (25W) and it's a bit better but it still pops/spits.

What about using the Clayton coil - do you know what settings I'd best use for that?
The Clapton coil you will probably want to run a 50/50 blend juice
You may be able to go slightly thicker like a 60/40 I would start it @ 10W-15W
This is one reason I am not a fan of built in atomizers you are limited to what you can do
a Pen style like the AIO is one thing but I will never own a box mod that I can't put my own atomizer on same thing with drip tips
I will not buy an atomizer that I cant put my own on
as far as the spitting & popping this is common with the BF coils
You just have to play with different juice blends & wattage

Thanks for the advice, it really helped. I'm learning. As I'm not an experimenter, I now know I shouldn't have bought this but at least I can get some use out of it.

What I'd really like to see - and haven't found anywhere - is a guide on how to fiddle the multiple settings for different coils and druthers (eg MTL). I just can't be bothered fiddling round with it for hours to chase something I might never achieve.
just look at the coils it will give you the recommended coil range you can usually go 5-10watts above below that we all had & have to start somewhere & I am not knocking the Egrip it is a nice device. I am just very picky about my vaping experience. At first all that mattered is it worked well enough for me to stay off traditional cigarettes. Now it 20-30 setups later it is much more. It is about reliability, trouble/leak free atomizers, flavor & looks
I suggest watching youtube videos look at Phil Busardo, Suck My Mod, Mike Vapes these are a few of the best reviewers
Phil Busardo is the most technical I will try & find some on the Egrip 2 & post them here for you

https://youtu.be/D7Rz9UzXnpI
This is Mike Vapes & FYI it looks like you can put a different atomizer on the Egrip 2
so if you can not get that one to your liking you can put any atomizer that uses a 510 connection on it
that is pretty cool that Joyetech did that
